The Function of The HR model in South Africa
The practices of human resources begin with the alignment of human resources objectives to the business objectives. This would allow human resource managers and the organisation to be able to measure the success of the goals in terms of financial terms.
Business objectives and cooperate vision
In order for the any HR model to works, human resources in South Africa need to focus their efforts in achieving the corporate vision, values and objectives. This can only be gone by carefully understanding the organisational objectives which are financial growth, market and production, organisational change, operational effectiveness and shift in technology.
Components of the HR Model
Once the business objectives are clear and understood by the human resource, model can be formulated to achieve those objectives. The Human Resource Model in South Africa comprises of the HRM goals and objectives which focuses on the organization and jobs, human resource processes, talent, culture and climate.
From my understanding, talent is the most important function of this model proposed. This is because human resource persons need to understand and forecast accurately the manpower needed in the organization in order to get the right skills that will perform the right job at the right time without wasting the organizational resources. Talent consists of an individual’s ability, skills, knowledge, experience, beliefs and values. It is the duty of the human resource manager to select and hire carefully the applicants that have the necessary skills needed for the job. Talent Management and Succession Planning includes developing procedures for assuring bench strength and optimizing talent movement. The goals are to assure mission-critical positions are filled with strong talent; redeploy underperformers and to optimize individual contribution and talent capability.
